Benefits of FASTING!

Fasting is to restrict oneself from food and liquids for a period of time. May be a day or two. It may also be  practiced for certain hours a day. This ancient practice has its profound benefits.
It goes without saying that fasting has been an integral part of every culture  religion. Hindus, Muslims, Christians, Buddhist, Monks, Jews
People fast in different part of the year differently.
In the holy month of RAMADAN the Muslims fast for a month from dawn to dusk. This is a dry fast in which believers abstain themselves from any kind of food and water.
The Hindus fast  in Ekadashi it is the 11th day of each half of the moon in the Vedic lunar calendar, which is observed twice a month. Besides this they also fast during Navratri in which they fast for 9 days. It is not obligatory for all, but those who choose to fast follow particular rules and regulations.
However different religion like Christianity, Jainism, Buddhism observe fast in their own way.
Most of the religion practice fasting for a spiritual connection. However this age old religious practice has now become the latest trend among the fitness freak not to gain closeness to GOD or spirituality but for health reasons.
Earlier they used to believe that this is illogical and unscientific but as soon as it was approved by the western world that fasting is beneficial for health they could not wait to implement it.
Now as the scientific researched have proved that fasting has its health advantages, it has turned the people towards it and has motivated them to practice this age old ritual.

Here are the different health benefits of fasting:-

Detoxification of the body:- Detoxification basically means the removal of toxins from the body to improve health. An  effective detoxification helps the body to remove the sludge and the excess accumulation in the cell.
Fasting helps to carry out the process of detoxification smoothly. When the stomach is empty  the organs take rest especially the tired digestive system, and this becomes the right time for the cellular purification .But if we keep on eating, the things pile up in the body and causes many health problems.

Weight loss:- Fasting is the most effective method for weight loss.
when we are not fasting and trying all sorts of thing to loose our weight we do not get the desired results. This is mainly because we are just loosing the sugars which is in the body and not the stored fats .
Foods that we eat gets converted into sugar after digestion but it does not burns fully, before having the next meal .Therefore this  extra sugar which is left unused is easily  burnt by the body during following any kind of weight loss regime but the stubborn fat which is stored in the body since long are difficult to loose and it requires an extra effort to do so.
During fasting  we restrict the intake of food and water, this allows the body to first use the sugar stored in the body as fuels to carry out its functions when these easily available sugar are used up , then it starts using up the stored fats of the body for its energy consumption. Thus the age old stored fat are burned giving you a healthy and slim body.

Boosts insulin sensitivity:- Diabetes is a chronic disease in which the blood sugar level of the body rises. "Insulin" a hormone secreted by pancreas is responsible to transfer the blood sugar to  different body cell for energy consumption. In diabetes the pancreas  does not work efficiently to produce insulin.
In type 2 diabetes the blood sugar level increases  to an alarming level due to the excess eating of sugary foods and the scary part is that the cell becomes resistant to insulin, in other words the insulin produced by pancreas are unable to move the sugar from the blood to the body cell. The pancreas keeps on synthesizing insulin, which increases its  level. Due to the excess of insulin the cell starts resisting to it. Thus the excess of sugar present in the blood is not transferred to the cell. This is known as insulin resistance
When a person suffering from type 2 diabetes observes fasting, the body uses up all the sugar stored in the body and due to this phenomena the insulin level slowly decreases. The decrease level of  insulin in the blood gives the cell a message and they start improving their insulin sensitivity. If fasting is done on a regular basis it improves the insulin sensitivity of the cell and this can reduce the dependency of a diabetic person on medicines.
Improves heart health:- Numerous studies in the field of fasting have shown  its benefits regarding heart health. The person who fasts on a regular basis develops a self control and restrict themselves from eating unhealthy foods and beverages, when they are not fasting. This might be a good reason behind a healthy πŸ’“
Practicing regular fasts reduces the bad cholesterol level and increases the metabolic rate of the body and thankfully all these factors does not allow the body to either gain weight or have diabetes, which are the two main culprits of πŸ’“ health.
Helps in treatment and prevention of cancer:- Fasting burns the sugar in the body and does not allow the cancer cells to thrive. It is a powerful tool to reverse the insulin resistance and inflammation in the body and helps combat cancer. By now we all know that fasting checks on weight gain and type 2 diabetes, which paves the way for cancer .
Fasting helps the cancer cells to respond to the process of chemotherapy effectively while protecting the other cells.
Many researchers have shown that it develops immune system of the body while fighting with cancer.

Conclusion:-Fasting is the best way to be healthy and one should make it as a part of his/her lifestyle. It is a significant part of every religion so have faith on your CREATOR because he never commands anything worthlessly and at the end of the day it is always beneficial for mankind.
