The right way to DRINK WATER which will make you FIT and HEALTHY!

Our body is comprised of 70% of water  and it plays most significant role in the phenomena of life. Therefore it is important to know that how much water should we drink? At what time should we drink & What should be the temperature of the water?

Many people don't realize the importance of drinking water & they don't drink the adequate amount of it, hence surround themselves with numerous diseases and health issues.Water is vital for the hydration of our brain & rest of the body. Today my aim is to make you aware of the importance of drinking water in the right way.
So lets get started!

How much water should we drink?

  • The idea of drinking 8 glasses of water daily is easy to remember, perhaps not right for everyone .This quantity changes person to person.
  • There are many internal & external  factors which influence the requirement of water.
  • People who do hard physical labor or exercise loose water & electrolytes from the body in the form of sweat so they need more water to make out the loss of the same.
  • Pregnant and breastfeeding mothers require more water to stay hydrated as there is a constant loss of water from there body during this period. WHO recommends 10 glasses for pregnant & 13 glasses for breastfeeding moms.
  • If a person is suffering from fever or diarrhea, he must intake more water.
  • In summer or in hot & humid temperature the body sweats a lot therefore it needs more water than colder or normal days.

What is the right way of drinking water?

Never drink water while standing or while walking always sit and drink.
  • When we stand and drink the water gushes through the system, making the body unable to assimilate its minerals & nutrients.
  •  It disrupts the fluid and causes its accumulation in the joints causing arthritis.
  • It may also hinder the detoxifying process of the body which leads to the accumulation of impurities in the kidney.
  • While sitting our muscles & nerves are relaxed and in a position to absorb the nutrients and perform the body functions smoothly.
  •  So we should  always sit and  then drink.
Never gulp water in one breath.
  • you should drink water in three or  more gulps, while breathing in between.
  •  According to experts drinking water in one breath risks  to the dilution of blood which may lead to higher excretion of urine and hence leads to the lowering of the hydration process.
What is the right time to drink water?

  • Studies have shown that drinking water at the right time can prevent us from many health problems such as bloating, lethargy, constipation, obesity, high blood pressure and even heart attacks and stroke.
  • Start your day with a glass of  warm water. It helps to flush out the toxins and freshen you up. It hydrates the brain & body and brings them to an active mode.It also makes your skin glowing.
  • Drink 30 minutes before meal. drinking a glass of water before meals promotes digestion and also prevent you from overeating.
  • Avoid drinking water, during and just after the meal .It disrupts the process of digestion by diluting the digestive juices of the body which aids in digestion.
  • Drink before and after exercising. There is a substantial loss of electrolytes during exercise, so it is urgent to restore the loss. Drinking water before workout will enhance your stamina and drinking after will keep you hydrated.
  • Drink water when you are tired. Fatigue is a relevant signal that our body sends when we are dehydrated. So drink a glass of water to overcome fatigue and charge yourself.
what should be the right temperature of water?

  • In sweltering heat when our throat becomes dry, we just open the fridge and drink chilled water in one breath.Though this cold & tasty water quenches our thirst and make us feel good for the moment but is quite injurious for our health.
  • Cold water affects the digestive system and prohibits the absorption of nutrients.
  • according to researches done in this field has revealed that it slows down the heart rate.
  • If you are working hard to loose weight , then avoid drinking cold water because it stores the extra fat and it is very difficult to burn them.
  • Water at room temperature is good for the body and if you consume warm water it is much better. Warm water increases the metabolism, keeps the heart and brain in good position and also helps in weight loss.
Having said that,I admit that in hot& humid summer we all feel the need of drinking cold water. Hence we must take precautions while doing so.
Some such precautions:-
  • Don't drink cold water immediately after coming back from strong sun or doing some sort of hard work or exercise.
  • Don't drink the chilled water straight away from the fridge.
  • Instead of fridge drink from the earthenware pots ,which are very good from the health point of view.
